I am increasingly concentrating on production at my workshop in Mid Wales so will be teaching less courses there. Mostly I am running courses in London at the GreenWood Guild with Barn Carder, but am also teaching an Adze Making course at the Bodgers Ball this year.

The Green Wood Guild- London’s Centre for green woodwork.

every other month  I run a series of forging classes in London, its always great to see Barn and Tom at their workshop at Stepney City Farm, I love the fact that in the middle of the city the farm cat or even a chicken might wander in at any time, the setting is so calming.

These classes are suitable for people with no tool making experience and give you an insight into some of the processes that I use, working to one of my designs as you make a straight knife or carving axe all of your own. You get to forge, harden, temper and sharpen your blades. What makes these classes really stand out is that we have the skills and resources to combine great woodworking and metalworking so you can make the handles as well, and walk away with unique, beautiful tools.
The Bladesmithing Day Course will teach you to how make a ‘straight’ knife, the most essential wood carving tool. Whilst on the Axe Forging Weekend you’ll make your own axe head, as well as fitting a handle, that you’ll carve and wedge in place yourself.
