Roughing blade

A spoon carving blade forged from round stock, concave on the inside for easier sharpening and more accurate edge geometry, convex outside for smooth hollowing. This blade has a smaller radius hook than the Finishing blade meaning that very small or deep spoons can be easily carved. This blade will also cut larger spoon bowls, it is very easy to make the cuts but the finish will not be so smooth as with the larger blades, used this way it is ideal for children or beginners.

Supply of Blades and Other Edged Tools:
It is illegal for me to supply any edged tool to anyone under the age of 18, I will check the details of any order for these and if I am unable to confirm the buyers eligibility will request further proof of age.

Double edged Twca Cam

This is a design I have been refining for the last 7 years. Although the concept is simple the different iterations I have been through have varied quite a lot, the version I have settled on is almost full circle back to one of my earlier designs, with a few tweaks that have improved it in use massively.

I have sold these face to face for the last year and the excellent feedback has encouraged me to build up stocks for a general release of these blades. They are sold, as ever blade only, if you buy one I will send a short video showing how to sharpen the blade, and how to use it.

They are sold in 2 sizes a 40mm diameter and 50mm diameter. For my recent work I have been exclusively reaching for the 40mm as it allows deeper undercuts. but if you are wanting a smoother finish on larger cups then the 50mm is going to be preferable.

65mm Twca Cam

The geometry of the edge of this blade is the same as in earlier versions of my twca cam, the edge being a continuous 65mm diameter, a concave inside face for ease of sharpening and a convex outside for a smoother cut. Blade is approx 18mm wide, round tang approx 8mm in diameter. A larger version of my 50mm diameter Twca Cam, suitable for larger spoons and bowls.

A shorter bowl gouge with a 50mm diameter sweep, designed for spoon bowls but is equally useful on shallow dishes and smaller bowls; it shorter length means that its reach is restricted and will not get down to the bottom of Kuksas. Not designed to be struck.

70mm Swan neck bowl gouge

A bowl gouge with a 70 mm diameter sweep, this gives a nice balance between aggressiveness of the cut and smoothness of finish, it is suitable for smaller bowls and Kusksa. Not designed to be struck. Supplied with a forged, tapered ferrule.

50mm Twca cam

100mm Swan neck bowl gouge

A wood carving bowl gouge with a 100mm diameter sweep, the flatter radius of this blade makes for a smoother finish on larger bowls. Not designed to be struck. Supplied with a forged, tapered ferrule.

50mm swan neck bowl gouge

A bowl gouge with a 50mm diameter sweep, the relatively small radius of this blade makes the cut quite aggressive but a smooth finish is still achievable on smaller bowls and Kuksa, alternatively a scalloped finish can be left to good effect. Not designed to be struck. Supplied with a forged, tapered ferrule.

The compound curve on this blade makes it very versatile, the flatter section will smooth out a spoon bowl very well, but if the tighter curve near the tip is used then a deeper bowl can be hollowed.

The shallow curve on this blade means that very smooth finish is possible, as these blades cut so smoothly cuts can usually made in and out of the spoon bowl meaning that a L and R pair are rarely needed.
